Learn about its revival in Regency times to become the home of the family reputed to be Britain’s wealthiest commoners, before taking a number of sideways steps to become a regimental headquarters, an advanced research station and finally a family home again.

Tours take you through the main rooms of Brancepeth Castle and also into its atmospheric medieval heart. They are led by a member of the family or long term castle resident, so you can find out what it means to live in and look after a building like this.

Our typical schedule of tours is every Thursday between November and March, and alternate Tuesdays and Thursdays from April to October. Tours are also available on some bank holidays.

Reservation

Between November and March, advance reservation using the booking form below is compulsory as tours only run if there is demand.

From April to October it is usually possible to just turn up, though as numbers are limited, you may nonetheless wish to reserve your place.

If you have any access requirements you will need to reserve at least 48 hours in advance.
